A three-movement suite for piccolo and saxophone quartet.  The Gift of Life was commissioned by flautist Helene Rosenblatt to honor Ingrid Werth, an aspiring musician who tragically died in a accident while still a child. Ingrid loved to pretend she was an airplane, whirling around her backyard, and the piccolo captures that charming image in the opening motif of the first movement. “The motif is also a metaphor for youth and how, when given the opportunity, young people soar,”  The very first chamber work for piccolo and saxophone quartet was recorded in 2013 by Sato Moughalian, piccolo and the exceptional New Hudson Sax Quartet.
