A three-movement work based on The Great Migration and the resulting rich history of Harlem, New York. A Hug for Harlem was commissioned by The Harlem Chamber Players and ChamberMusicNY and generously funded by the New York State Council on the Arts in 2015. It was premiered on Thursday, April 21, 2016, 7:30pm Merkin Concert Hall at Kaufman Music Center 129 West 67th St., New York, with Terrance Mcknight as narrator and David Gilbert, conductor.
